Angels are helping spirits from God whose job is to protect our minds from the ego and light our way home. They are often shown attending, protecting and nurturing the birth of Christ in us. The helping function of angels is very similar to that of the Holy Spirit, implying that perhaps angels are simply extensions or aspects of the Holy Spirit.
"Angels light the way, so that all darkness vanishes, and you are standing in a light so bright and clear that you can understand all things you see (ACIM W-13.2)."
